On my way home
Currently in Copenhagen at the end of a whirlwind tour through Japan, France, UK, and Germany. I have a 3 hour layover here before I head back home. I don't think I've ever looked forward to sitting at home as I do now.
I really like the Copenhagen airport. It's nice, efficient, and you can do lots of shopping whilst waiting for your flight.
I have lots of interesting experiences from this trip, but the coolest thing happened in Germany. After getting up at 5AM UK time to catch a flight to attend an 11:30 AM mtg in Munich, I groggily left my luggage on the overhead compartment of the S-Bahn from the airport. As soon as I stepped off the train (with my briefcase) I realized what happened, but alas it was too late. The train door wouldn't open and I watched the train take off and me being very very distressed.
Upon reaching the office, I told the receptionist what happened. I must have looked like I was about to lose it (and I probably was...), but she assured me that things like this happen all the time and she was confident that someone would return my bag.
Almost exactly 6 hours later, my suitcase came to the Microsoft office in Munich from the train untouched. Michaela at the office called the central train station (Hauptknopf) and explained which train I was on. The operator checked the train during the shift switch over (approximately 2PM), found the bag, and got someone to deliver it to the Microsoft office by 4PM.
I was incredulous, as this type of efficiency just astounded me. I want to thank everyone in the chain for helping me out.
