IEEE 802.16

A new standard is out, or maybe it was out earlier im not sure. Wi-Max or known as Wireless Interoperability for Microwave Access - working group number 16 of IEEE 802. It provides MAN connectivity at speeds up to 75 Mb/sec. Transmitting range up to 30 miles! But however, on the average a Wi-MAX base-station installation will likely cover between three to five miles. But still cool eh?

wow that's a big range... i hope a product of that standard gets to be released soon and i hope it will be cheap :D, but i'm concerned with security... bigger range may mean bigger security to issue...
