Will the last one to leave the Spoke please turn out the lights

Well I see that Tom Indelicato has moved his blog to Windows Live Spaces. Windows Live Spaces is a pretty nice place to blog. I like the tools there.

The English language section of theSpoke is getting pretty quiet. There's me but I'm not posting here as often as I used to. There is Didith who remains active here and is always interesting. And occasionally someone else drops by to say something. But often what people are saying is "here is where I am now blogging." And of course there seem to be a rash of spam blogs that are not getting cleaned up in a timely way anymore. Is this the beginning of the end? Or are we close to the end?

I'm seriously thinking about moving the things I blog about here to my Windows Live Spaces blog. That one was created just to talk about social computing but it never really built up an audience so I'm thinking maybe I should expand the scope of what I write about there and condense my blogging to fewer places. Thoughts?

most of the stuff that should've ended up here when V2 was released aren't to be found, and honestly, it's as if Live Spaces took over that role, the ease of posting images, videos and re-layouting the page has been so easier than ever, with the bonus of having themes to choose from in Live Spaces. I now keep 2 blogs there, one personal (which I'm kind of neglecting these days, since I live a dull life right now), and a gaming blog (for posting news and info about games and my MVP activities). There are other blog engines out there, live journal, word press and the venerable blogspot (er, blogger) right now aside from Live Spaces. And theSpoke is just but one of the many

I feel attachment to theSpoke even though I don't blog here anymore. Being around for its inception, watching hte blog numbers grow, and meeting people via their comments and posts was great, especially during the start as an evangelist.

After that, I moved primarily over to this moblog engine as we had to blog on that for some of our media work, and just recently I decided to set up another blog (more for rants or exploratory topics). I'm using Wordpress for that, as the customizations and plug-ins for it seem quite cool.

I'm not on the academic evangelism team anymore, but I"d wonder what the Redmond guys are planning on doing with theSpoke.

@Howard, is your new wordpress blog ready for the public? Can you please share the URL with us when it's ready?

Thanks,

@Alfred, I would strongly encourage your to use your existing Live space blog instead of creating one. I know you have pretty good content over there and this move would be advantageous to your readers.

If I move things to Live Spaces it will be with my existing blog. I wouldn't create a new one. The idea is to consolidate.
In other "thanks that make you think" news, since I posted this base post I've lost at least one subscriber.

@Alfred: theSpoke was good while it was active and buzzing with student community. People have participated and moved on. So should we :)

theSpoke was good while it lasted. I remember back when v1 was buzzing with all sorts of activity and now its just spam and a few real blogs. The blogs here that I did read were great, just too bad the community was neglected. Microsoft really could have had a great community here for years to come...

With all the blogs I liked to read on the spoke moving off, I need to look into a new blog subscription service...

I used to love the Spoke. At one time I was a regular poster. The tipping point for me was probably the "upgrade" that took away all the charm and immediacy of the place. (and also reset my hit counter to zero.....)

However, I think it served a very useful purpose, in that it got people into community and blogging, and the fact that there are so many other things like it out there now just shows how ahead of its time it was.
